• As part of the OAS Internship Program, interns are required to fulfill a Performance Evaluation System in which, along with their supervisors, clear objectives are set during the first week of the internship. A performance evaluation is done at the end of the period allowing all interns to have a complete file in the Department of Human Resources of the OAS for future references.
  • All interns are required to participate in a weekly orientation program coordinated by the Department of Human Resources. A certificate of completion will be awarded to Interns who have attended at least 80% of the meetings.
  • The internship program of the OAS is without any payment. Its purpose is to provide interns with work experience and to meet academic requirements when appropriate. Interns are responsible for all costs associated with housing, health insurance, and any other costs for the duration of the internship.
  • All interns are required to submit valid proof of insurance upon starting the internship.Attendance is mandatory, for both, full time (40 hrs/week) and part-time (at least 20 hrs/week) interns. Interns studying or those who are under a student visa (F-1) for the time of their internship can participate as part-time interns. All interns under a visa sponsored by the OAS must participate in a full-time basis.
  • The OAS Internship Program in Washington DC is offered three times a year with clear starting and ending dates for each session. Internships will not be extended under any circumstances, being so, interns along with their supervisors must plan the objectives to be completed within the established time.
  • Interns who have participated in the OAS Internship Program cannot apply again or be accepted in any future internship sessions at the OAS.
  • The information handled by interns during the performance of their duties is confidential and cannot be used for personal or professional gain.
  • Interns cannot accept any work at the General Secretariat for the duration of the internship.
  • Personal appearance is an important aspect for a successful career. Therefore, interns maintain proper attire at work from the beginning to the end of the internship.
