OAS Secretary General Travels to Trinidad and Tobago to Participate in MISPA

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, traveled today to Trinidad and Tobago to participate in the Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA), being held tomorrow and Friday in Port-of-Spain.

During his visit, the Secretary General will hold meetings with the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamala Persad-Bissessar; the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Surujrattan Rambachan; and its Minister of National Security, John Sandy.

Tomorrow, the Secretary General will participate in the inauguration of MISPA alongside Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar and Minister Sandy. He also will hold bilateral meetings with some of the ministers participating in the hemispheric gathering.

The Third Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA III), organized by the OAS, seeks to promote a debate and offer recommendations on the situation of police management in the hemisphere, a fundamental issue towards making progress in improving security conditions for the citizens of the Americas.
