STATEMENT BY THE OAS SECRETARY GENERAL REGARDING THE RELATIONS BETWEEN COLOMBIA AND VENEZUELA

  July 29, 2009

Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza: “I am concerned about the decision expressed by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, regarding the relation with Colombia. I hope these announcements will not be fulfilled. Quite the opposite, I wish that a dialogue can be started to allow both sides discussing their differences in a fraternal environment, which is how differences should be dealt with between two fellow countries”.
