OAS and ILO Issue Joint Declaration on Social Protection and Decent Work

The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS), through the Secretariat for Integral Development, and the International Labour Organization Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean issued a joint declaration titled "Social Protection and Decent Work: Commitments for Prosperity."
In the document, the two institutions recognize and validate their partnership in using the tools of the Inter-American Social Protection Network (IASPN) to promote cooperation that guarantees commitment to decent work in the Americas and offers effective social protection for all.
This declaration reinforces the five dimensions of decent work and recognizes the strategic importance of the Social Protection Floor Initiative (SPF) as tools to ensure access to social minimums that contribute to guaranteeing human rights, reducing poverty and inequality and generating employment. Finally, the text highlights the role of the IASPN as a platform for south-south cooperation, for the exchange of knowledge in favor of the implementation of the Social Protection Floor.
