OAS to Host Policy Roundtable in Celebration of Human Rights Day
December 13, 2010
The Organization of American States (OAS) will host this Wednesday, December 15, 2010, the XXVII OAS Policy Roundtable to celebrate Human Rights Day.
Secretary General José Miguel Insulza will offer welcoming remarks at the event, which is organized by the OAS Secretariat for External Relations and features the following panelists: María Otero, United States Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs; Diego García Sayán, President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights; and Santiago Cantón, Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).
Launched in January 2007, the OAS Policy Roundtable program seeks to enrich the discussion of the hemispheric agenda by bringing together policy analysts and the diplomatic community to discuss the key issues affecting the region. This series provides an environment different to that of formal political bodies and embraces academic representatives and opinion leaders who express their views to complement those from Member States.
The XXVII OAS Policy Roundtable will be held from 15:30 to 17:00 EST (20:30 to 22:00 GMT) in the Hall of the Americas at Organization headquarters in Washington, DC.
