Fourth Meeting of National Authorities on Trafficking in Persons, Convened by the OAS, to Meet in Brasilia

The Fourth Meeting of National Authorities on Trafficking in Persons, convened by the Organization of American States (OAS), will be held December 4 and 5 in Brasilia, Brazil, with the aim of approving the Work Plan to address this scourge in a coordinated way in the Western Hemisphere for the 2015-2018 period.
The event will take place in the Itamaraty Palace, headquarters of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, and will be inaugurated by the Foreign Minister of Brazil, Luiz Alberto Figueiredo; the Minister of Justice of Brazil, José Cardozo; the National Secretary for Justice of Brazil, Paulo Abrao; and the Secretary for Multidimensional Security of the OAS, Adam Blackwell, among others.
The 2015-2018 Work Plan, which was produced by the Committee on Hemispheric Security of the OAS and forwarded for approval to the meeting in Brasilia, sets out guidelines for the OAS Department of Public Security and establishes some common objectives and methods to achieve them for the member states. Moreover, at the meeting in the Brazilian capital the representatives will debate a proposed Inter-American Declaration to Address the Trafficking of Persons, and will hear different presentations by international experts on the problem in the region and in the world.
The meeting will be closed on Friday by Foreign Minister Figueiredo, Secretary Abrao and Ambassador Blackwell.
