OAS Organizes Meeting with Civil Registry Hemispheric Authorities in Guatemala

The Organization of American States (OAS) will hold the Eighth Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Council of Civil Registry, Identity and Vital Statistics (CLARCIEV) from October 18 to 21 in Antigua, Guatemala.

The event will bring together 19 regional institutions specialized in the registration issue, with discussions on the institutional strengthening of civil registration, especially in three areas: institutional modernization,data protection, and technology - interoperability.

The meeting is part of OAS efforts to support Member States on the eradication of sub-registration to ensure recognition of the right to identity of all persons, taking into account that the right to identity is a fundamental right that allows access to other rights and public policies.
