Caribbean Academics and Experts on Public Security Meet in Jamaica

The Second Meeting of Caribbean academics and experts on public security will be held in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on May 19 and 20, 2010. The event is organized jointly by the Organization of American States (OAS), through its Department of Public Security, and FLACSO Chile, with the financial support of the Open Society Institute.

The purpose of this meeting is to produce a series of recommendations for the Meeting of Experts on Public Security to be held in Santiago, Chile, at the end of 2010. The agenda includes discussion of subjects related to the declarations from the Meetings of Ministers of Public Security of the Americas (MISPA), measures for the prevention and control of crime and violence, as well as other activities the OAS has promoted in the area of security in the Americas, specifically in the Caribbean region.
