OAS and ORITEL to Sign Letter of Intent to Help People with Disabilities of the Hemisphere

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, and the President of the International Telethons Organization (ORITEL), Mario Kreutzberger, will sign tomorrow a Letter of Intent to enhance cooperation between the two institutions and begin actions to allow the implementation of the Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, among other issues. The signing ceremony will take place today, Friday, August 10, at 11:30 EDT (15:30 GMT) in the Hall of the Americas at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC.

Subsequently, Kreutzberger will deliver to Secretary General Insulza the ORITEL Distinction of Honor, a recognition given for the first time that symbolizes the organization’s gratitude for the head of the OAS "for his support and commitment to children and youth with disabilities throughout the hemisphere."
