24 countries of the Americas will gather in Chile to discuss "energy transition" at the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas Ministerial

The III Ministerial Meeting of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA), whose main theme is energy transition in the Hemisphere, will convene in Viña del Mar, Chile, on September 7 and 8, and is being hosted by the Government of Chile, with the support of the Organization of American States (OAS), in charge of the technical secretariat.

The President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, and the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, will launch the event at 4:30 PM local time (7:30 PM GMT).

The purpose of the meeting is to agree on a regional consensus to promote sustainable energy development in the Americas. Among the topics on the agenda is the approval of the Action Plan for the period 2018-2019, which lists the activities proposed by the countries of the region to advance energy transition within the framework of the pillars of ECPA.

Discussions on energy information systems in Latin America, renewable energy development, metrology in energy efficiency, and financing for the development of renewable energy projects are also planned.

Twenty-four countries of the Americas will be represented at the event, including nine ministers and six deputy ministers of Energy.
