OAS Permanent Council to Learn the Theme of the next General Assembly and to Celebrate International Day for People of African Descent

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a regular virtual meeting, on Wednesday, September 1 at 09:30 EDT (13:30 GMT) to receive the “Presentation of the Theme for the Fifty-First Regular Session of the General Assembly” to be held between November 10 and 12, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Pedro Brolo Vila, and to celebrate the International Day for People of African Descent, among other topics.

The celebration of the International Day for People of African Descent will include presentations by the Vice President of Costa Rica, Epsy Campbell Barr; the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro; and the Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons of African Descent and against Racial Discrimination of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Commissioner Margarette May Macauley.
