OAS Permanent Council and Inter-American Council for Integral Development to Analyze Resilience in the Wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) will hold a virtual joint meeting on Wednesday, June 17 at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT), to analyze “Building resilience in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

The meeting will be opened by the Chair of CIDI and the Ambassador of Guyana to the OAS, Riyad Insanally, and will include a round table with the following experts:

• Justin Ram, former Chief Economist at the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB);
• George Alleyne, Director Emeritus of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO);
• Manuel Otero, Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA);
• Miguel Barreto, United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean; and
• Elizabeth Riley, Acting Executive Director of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

The Chair of the Permanent Council and Ambassador of Haiti to the OAS, Leon Charles, will conclude the meeting.
