Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

OAS Social Protection Network Organizes Event to Promote Partnerships for Financial Inclusion to Reduce Poverty and Inequality

Ministers and high-level representatives of governments and the private sector from more than 25 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean will meet in New York City on Monday, April 29 and Tuesday April 30 at an event organized by the Inter-American Social Protection Network of the Organization of American States (IASPN/OAS) entitled " Partnerships for Financial Inclusion: A Catalyst for Inclusive Growth."
At the meeting, participants will share their perspectives on the key challenges and lessons learned from the financial inclusion programs currently underway in the region, with special attention to how they contribute to the formation of public- private partnerships to alleviate poverty. The aim is to create an informative forum that promotes the benefits of a more inclusive financial sector which offers products and services to vulnerable populations in marginal urban areas and to highlight successful examples of financial inclusion and possible solutions by financial service providers and foundations sectors, to include dynamic public-private partnerships.
The inaugural ceremony will be open to the press and will feature the participation of the OAS Assistant Secretary General, Ambassador Albert Ramdin; the State Department’s Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Roberta Jacobson; New York City Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development, Alicia Glen; and the President and CEO of the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, Jonathan Mintz. The event’s agenda also includes presentations by government representatives and experts from the social and financial sectors of the region.
Debate panels which will extend for two days, will close with a presentation from the New York Financial Empowerment Center. With this initiative the IASPN seeks to increase knowledge of financial inclusion programs among the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean. The event is organized by the Organization of American States in collaboration with the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE), the CFE, and United States Department of State.
