The Organization of American States (OAS) will co-organize the Third Americas Competitiveness Exchange on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ACE), to be held from April 19 to 24 in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois, located in the Midwest of the United States.
During the six-day tour, 47 participants, among them ministers, deputy ministers and senior officials in economic issues, private sector leaders, and academics from 27 countries of the Americas will learn about innovation and high technology centers, public-private alliances, and investments in the cities of Minneapolis and Rochester, Minnesota; LaCrosse, Viroqua, Gays Mills, Westby, Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Chicago, Illinois. Featured sites on the tour are specialized in manufacturing, medical devices, water, agriculture, energy, and information and communication technology.
The Exchange is organized by the Inter-American Competitiveness Network (RIAC, for its initials in Spanish), in collaboration with the Departments of State and Commerce of the United States; and the Government of Guatemala, as President Pro-Tempore of RIAC for 2015.
RIAC is an initiative created by member states to institutionalize a mechanism for regional dialogue, promote the exchange of experiences and the development of joint initiatives in areas related to competitiveness. The OAS acts as its Technical Secretariat and the program benefits from the financial support of the Governments of the United States and Canada.
