65th OAS Policy Roundtable: "Regional Agenda for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: A Look into the Future"

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host, on Tuesday, February 24 at 15:00 EST (20:00 GMT) its 65th OAS Policy Roundtable, titled "Regional Agenda for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: A Look into the Future."

The event will feature a presentation by the Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza, followed by a panel moderated by the Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Human Rights Commission (IACHR), Emilio Álvarez Icaza. The debate will include Nora Lustig, Samuel Z. Stone Professor of Latin American Economics at Tulane University; Laura Pautassi, Chair of the Working Group for the Evaluation of the Periodic Reports of the States Parties to the Protocol of San Salvador; Simone Cecchini, Social Affairs Officer in the Social Development Division, Economic Comission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) of the United Nations; and Paulo Vanucci, IACHR Commissioner.

The Roundtable seeks to evaluate the current situation of economic, social and cultural rights in the Americas, as well as generating a dialogue in which participants will analyze the implications of public policies and advances made in the implementation of the San Salvador Protocol, and its insertion into the discussion of the post-2015 development agenda.
