Towards the Summit of the Americas, Experts at OAS Debate Hemispheric Cooperation to Advance Public Security

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host on Wednesday, February 8, at 15:00 EST (20:00 GMT), a round table with experts on Hemispheric Cooperation to debate the issue of Public Security, one of the main themes for the upcoming Summit of the Americas, to be held April in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

The 40th OAS Policy Roundtable will open with the participation of the Secretary General of the Hemispheric institution, José Miguel Insulza. The panel of experts include Anthony T. Bryan, Senior Fellow at the Institute of International Relations of the University of West Indies-St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago; María Victoria Llorente, Executive Director of “Fundación Ideas Para la Paz” (Colombia); and Rubén Aguilar, journalist and Press Secretary for former Mexican President Vicente Fox. The debate will be moderated by Richard Feinberg, Professor of International Political Economy, University of California-San Diego, and will conclude with remarks by Ambassador Luis Alfonso Hoyos, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the OAS.
