The Colombian singer Fanny Lu was named Goodwill Ambassador of the Organization of American States (OAS) by Secretary General Luis Almagro, in a ceremony held in the context of the OAS General Assembly in Medellin, Colombia.
"I am proud that the OAS can count on the support of a faithful defender of human rights in the Americas. Fanny Lu will help us in the efforts to promote the active participation of women in the community and society, in projects that support women in vulnerable situations and that defend their dignity, as well as in awareness campaigns about children's rights," said the Secretary General.
In addition, Secretary General Almagro highlighted the work of the Colombian singer "to promote and rescue women from vulnerability and efforts to promote the active participation of women in the community and society, as well as campaigns to raise awareness about rights of childhood, actions that she has carried out with such zeal, vision and efficiency." "Fanny Lu will be a great ally of the OAS in the region, her generosity and positive force will put into practice in support of our hemispheric cause of "more rights for more people," Secretary General Almagro concluded.
The Colombian artist emphasized that "women and children have been my great inspiration and motivation and I have dedicated my career to them; with this appointment I feel that you give me even larger wings to fly, to fly to places in Latin America to touch hearts, transform lives and bring joy."
