The Selection Committee of the Regular Academic Scholarships Program of the Organization of American States (OAS) began meeting today at the headquarters of the Organization in Washington, DC, to select the students that applied for economic support in the conduction of their postgraduate studies.

The meeting was inaugurated this morning by the Director of the OAS Department of Human Development, Education and Culture, Marie Levens, who thanked the evaluators for their constant support and recalled that “it is an honor to the students and governments to have you here, because it is thanks to you that this transparent process works.”

The evaluators, who will meet until Wednesday, February 15, come from Panama, Argentina, Chile, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Canada, and are charged with evaluating the applications of students from the Organization’s Member States (between six and eight from each country). An equal number of master and doctorate scholarships will be awarded, in addition to undergraduate scholarships for students from Caribbean nations. The recipients will be announced in early March.
