At OAS, IICA Presents its 2011-2014 Plan for CARICOM Countries

The Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Víctor M. Villalobos, today presented the institution’s 2011-2014 plan for the countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in a meeting held at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC.

Director General Villalobos explained that said program has four principal objectives: to promote agricultural productivity; to improve the sanitary aspects of plants and animals; to support agribusinesses and agricultural tourism; and to face climate change and promote agricultural productivity for food safety.

The head of IICA was accompanied by IICA’s Associate Deputy Director and Representative in the United States, David C. Hatch, and by the representatives of the delegations to CARICOM of Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
