The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received the President of Haiti, Michel Martelly, in his office in Washington DC.

During the meeting, the Secretary General and President Martelly discussed the advances made in the Caribbean country, the preparations for the 2015 General Assembly of the Organization, to be held in Haiti, and the current regional political context.

Also present at the meeting were the Foreign Minister of Haiti, Duly Brutus; the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Albert Ramdin; the Chief of Staff of the Secretary General, Hugo de Zela; the Interim Representative of Haiti to the OAS, Bocchit Edmond; and the Coordinator of the Program for Universal Civil Identity in the Americas (PUICA) of the OAS, Steven Griner, among others.
