Secretary General Insulza Meets with the Permanent Observer of Qatar to the OAS

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today met with the Permanent Observer of Qatar to the OAS, Mohammed Jaham Al-Kuwari, at the headquarters of the hemispheric Organization in Washington DC.

Secretary General Insulza and the Permanent Observer of Qatar discussed the relations between Latin America and the Caribbean and Qatar and in general with the Arab nations, and agreed on the importance of deepening relations between the two regions. Qatar has been a Permanent Observer since 2002, and since 2005 has made important contributions, in particular to the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development of the OAS.

The OAS Secretary General received the Qatari diplomat accompanied by the Secretary for External Relations of the OAS, Alfonso Quiñonez; and the Director of the Department of International Affairs, Jorge Sanín.
