The Committee of the Leo S. Rowe Fund of the Organization of American States (OAS) today awarded seven scholarships to young Peruvians studying in universities in metropolitan Washington, DC, to continue their undergraduate and graduate university studies.

The scholarships are financed with funds donated by the former OAS official Julia MacLean Viñas, who upon her death left a legacy to help Peruvian women studying in the metropolitan area of the capital of the United States, with the goal that they would subsequently put into practice the skills learned in the development of their home country. The recipients are Katrin Ventocilla-Witjes, Gracy Zapata, Ana Sotelo, Yesenia Cabezas, Dayana Delgado, Emi Yamamura and Yvette Ramos.

In the scholarship award ceremony, held at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, the Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the OAS, Ambassador Roberto Saladin; Raul Salazar, Minister of the Mission of Peru to the organization; Marcelo Rojas, Alternate Representative of Chile; Indalecio Vallejos, of the Mission of the United States, all took part, together with the scholarship recipients.
