OAS Secretary General Meets with the Vice President of Nicaragua

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, and the Vice President of Nicaragua, Moises Omar Halleslevens, today held a meeting during which they discussed relevant issues at the regional and national level, primarily those related to the elections in the Central American country and the exchange of best practices in science and technology.

In their talks, the two officials reviewed the work to be undertaken by the OAS through the Electoral Accompaniment Mission (EAM) during the municipal elections to be held November 4, and discussed matters related to Nicaragua’s leadership in promoting science and technology and the progress made in the area of public security.

The meeting, held at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, was held within the framework of the participation of Vice President Halleslevens at the Seventh Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Commission on Science and Technology, held at OAS for two days.
