Assistant Secretary General Signs Agreement with Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia for the Celebration of the Forty-Second Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly
December 7, 2011
The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, visited the Plurinational State of Bolivia on December 4 and 5 in the framework of the preparations for the celebration of the forty-second regular session of the OAS General Assembly, to be held in the city of Cochabamba from June 3 to 5, 2012.
During his visit, Ambassador Ramdin met with the authorities of the city of Cochabamba and afterwards traveled to La Paz where he held meetings with His Excellency President Evo Morales Ayma, Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca, representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps and with local media.
In a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Bolivian Foreign Ministry on December 5, the Assistant Secretary General and the Minister of Foreign Affairs signed the agreement for the celebration of the next OAS General Assembly.
“All cultures have their own way of projecting their future. I am sure that the General Assembly of the OAS in Cochabamba will give this land the opportunity to express its deepest values and its vision of the world, and to impress its seal on the other nations that belong to this the oldest International Organization in the Hemisphere,” Ramdin said.
In a press conference convened for this event, Ramdin addressed the local media, to whom he expressed satisfaction for the Bolivian Government’s offer to host the meeting and added that “the OAS General Assembly in Bolivia will doubtless reinforce the collaboration between the Governments that seek better life conditions for their citizens, bringing them more effective democracies with peace, security, and prosperity and, in summary, good quality of life for their citizens.”
