CIVIL SOCIETY IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
Forum's Results:
The Office of Education, Science and Technology (OEST) of the Organization of American States (OAS) invited civil society organizations to participate from February 15 to March 1, 2005 in the Virtual Forum “Civil Society in Science, Technology and Innovation” created to facilitate the discussion on the essential role of these areas for development in our countries, particularly in the creation of employment to confront poverty and strengthen democratic governance, central themes of the Fourth Summit of the Americas to be held in Mar del Plata in November 2005. The Forum obtained concrete recommendations on science, technology, engineering, innovation and science education to contribute in the discussion process towards the Summit of the Americas and in the inclusion of these areas among the priorities to be reached by the Heads of State and Government of the Americas.

Within the framework of the commitments made at the Third Summit of the Americas, the Ministers of Culture and Highest appropriate authorities, set forth a declaration and plan of action on cultural diversity to establish more dynamic and efficient cooperation among our countries.
