The Course on Strengthening Skills for Electoral Candidates "Thelma King" is a joint initiative of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) and the School of Governance (EG) of the Organization of American States (OAS). The objective of the course is to strengthen the skills of the participants to effectively face an election campaign and is aimed at women who have decided to run as electoral candidates, both at the national level and at the local level, and who are citizens of Panama.

This course is possible through the Electoral Tribunal of Panama

Goals:

Strengthen the skills of the participants for the electoral competition, particularly in the areas of political communication, construction of the political agenda, direction, and organization of electoral campaigns, administration of the electoral budget, negotiation and resolution of conflicts, agenda of women's rights and gender equality.

Offer participants the advice of women leaders and training sessions with experts in the subjects taught.

Engage participants in the promotion of the agenda of women's rights in the Americas and participation in women's political networks.  

Expected results:

At the end of the Course, the participants are expected to:

Strengthen crucial skills to effectively face an election campaign

Learn techniques for the design of campaigns including strategies for political communication, for team management, political negotiation, electoral budget management and to form alliances

Receive advice from women leaders in the region and practical sessions of experts in the subjects taught

Acquire the arguments to promote the women's rights agenda.
