Taking into account the damage inflicted by the different manifestations of
transnational organized crime and the threat it poses to democracies and to the
economic and social development of states, as well as the urgent need to
strengthen and enhance mutual legal and judicial cooperation at the hemispheric
level, the REMJA meetings have recognized the advisability of continuing to deal
with this issue as part of those meetings.
