Parliamentary Representative Democratic Monarchy; The Prime Minister
is the head of government, but the head of state is represented by
through the British monarchy. Grenada is both and independent
country and Commonwealth Realm. Executive power is exercised by the
government; legislative, by both the government and parliament. The
judiciary is an independent branch from both the executive and
legislative. The government is headed by the Prime Minister;
however, the British monarchy is represented in the country through
the Governor-General, who is appointed by the British crown and
appoints the federal justices within the judicial branch, including
the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The Privy Council of the
United Kingdom acts as the highest appellate court.
