The economy of Haiti is developing with strong
potential. Nearly two-thirds of all Haitians depend heavily on the
agriculture sector, principally in small-scale subsistence farming. As
a result, they remain highly vulnerable to damage from frequent
natural disasters due to their geographic location. This is further
exacerbated by the country's excessive rates of deforestation.
With the help of many international financial
institutions, Haiti is seeing moderate growth in its economy in the
past several years.
