Specialized Academic Network of Technical Cooperation

Specialized Academic Network of Technical Cooperation

In the year 2019, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), in the context of its 60th Anniversary and by following its Strategic Plan 2017-2021, decided to deepen the link and cooperation alliances with academia throughout the region.

To this end, the IACHR called on universities and academic centers specialized in human rights to form the "Specialized Academic Network of Cooperation with the IACHR" with the objective of providing technical support to the work carried out by it, in particular through the work of its Thematic Rapporteurships.

The call for proposals is aimed to select the academic projects that propose to produce material inputs to technically support the work of the Thematic Rapporteurships for the fulfillment of their mandate of monitoring, promoting and protecting human rights, and/or activities with the objective of measuring the level of compliance, impact and effectiveness of the recommendations and decisions of the IACHR. The participants may also send inputs that would be used to feed the database of the "Observatory on the Impact of the Inter-American Human Rights System," which is currently being developed by the IACHR, to map successful cases, good practices and lessons learned in the implementation of recommendations by Member States, among other issues.

Basis of the Call for Proposals
On May 28, 2019, the IACHR decided to extend the deadline for receipt of applications until July 1, 2019 at 23.59 (Washington, D.C. time).
