REEEP Regional Preparatory Meeting
Held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

On
September 13, 2007,
the REEEP Regional Secretariat for Latin America and
the Caribbean region, hosted by the OAS, held
the Second Regional
Preparatory meeting. Government and
private sector representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador,
Guatemala, Mexico, and Peru, including REEEP project developers and
implementers and international development agencies, participated in the
Regional Preparatory Meeting held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The
REEEP program Regional Priorities were reviewed and updated. The
discussions also included a consultation on the implementation of
strategies and recommendations to promote sustainable energy.
Election of a regional
representative to represent LAC in the REEEP Programme Board
Mrs. Mónica Servant, a senior
official of the Argentine Energy Secretariat, was elected to be the
Regional Representative of the region before the REEEP Governing Board
for the period 2007/2009.
