The Educational Portal of the Americas emerged from the political will of the States of the region who, at the Third Summit of the Americas held in 2001, approved the "Connecting the Americas" initiative to promote development in the region through access to quality digital education.

Thus, we have established ourselves as a virtual educational platform in which citizens can access a permanent learning offer that allows them to develop skills, specialize knowledge and strengthen their civic and democratic values.

We focus on four areas:

  • The design of online courses and training programs.
  • Consulting services in educational technology solutions.
  • Building networks and virtual communities to promote dialogue and exchange of experiences in the region.
  • Participation in technical cooperation missions to strengthen institutional capacities.

In addition, our strategic lines are based on the promotion of more digital education for more people, which seeks to make access to our digital educational offerings diverse, accessible, usable, equal and universal.

Objectives
  • Developing institutional capacities for innovation in education, using technology as a mediator of the process.
  • Promoting and granting scholarships to citizens of the member states to attend our virtual training programs.
  • Establishing alliances with multilateral, educational and civil society organizations to develop continuing education processes.
  • Promoting the use and appropriation of technology in school environments.
  • Disseminating educational initiatives that positively improve the primary, secondary and tertiary education system in the Americas.
  • Designing communities of practice and knowledge.

Activities
  • Designing self-directed or tutored courses or virtual training programs, enriched with digital contents that allow quality training.
  • Integrating active learning methodologies and didactic strategies to digital environments, for example, project-based learning, problem-based learning or gamification.
  • Modeling interactions in the virtual classroom considering connectivity contexts.
  • Producing e-learning experiences on various topics: human rights, public safety, gender equity, digital education, sustainability, digital content, etc.
  • Participating in technical cooperation missions to promote and support the development of institutional capacities through the transfer of knowledge, policies and programs related to STEM - STEAM education.
