Every person has the right to freedom of investigation, of opinion, and of the expression and dissemination of ideas, by any medium whatsoever.
American Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man
This section includes certain decisions by local tribunals that reflect the importance of respecting freedom of expression as protected in the Convention. The Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression believes that publicizing comparative case law from countries of the hemisphere will be useful for judges who are called to decide similar cases in their own jurisdictions.
