Ten years of constant efforts

The hemispheric countries have been for more than ten years making constant efforts to reform the education. Through meetings, the chiefs of State have set the fundamental goals for the regional agenda in specific topics like the Education. This meeting o Americas’ summit, they have become the most important source for political goals. In this context, The Unit of Social Development and Education has provided technical support to the States in the formulation of educational politics, in the regional and multinational coordination and training for basic and civil educational, in work and youth education, in specific subject of the higher education and in the organization and management of the educational systems for the provision of basic education and the quality professional training. Additionally, the Unit exercises the technical secretariat for the meetings of the Inter-American Summit for the Ministers of Education and follows the execution towards its goals, also supporting the activities of the regional organizations and the inter-American actions of the educational development. Besides the Summits, the multilateral meetings about education have been mayor contributors for the achievement of political consensus and the establishment of international cooperation mechanisms, the participation of the civil society and the confronting of the globalization challenges. The Jomtien and Dakar conferences have been the decisive world forums in the subject of universalization of the basic education and fulfillment of the basic needs of learning at a world level.
