The Member States of the OAS, through four consecutive resolutions of the General Assembly between 2009 and 2012, have reaffirmed the need for an inter-American instrument on the rights of older persons. To this end, the Secretariat for Access to Rights and Equity, through the Department of Social Inclusion, accompanies the Member States in the process, along with the civil society, with actions aimed at creating awareness and dissemination of the importance on the subject, the study and promotion of good public policies for the protection of human rights of older persons.
