On September 3rd and 4th the workshop "Working towards the improvement of statistics on crime and citizen security" was organized in Lima, Peru. The workshop's purpose was to trigger a discussion on the quality of public security statistics based on national and regional experiences, about the quality of the surveys regarding public security. As Peru embarks itself in the development of an Integrated System of Crime and Citizen Security Statistics (SIESC, by its Spanish acronym), the workshop aimed at strengthening its technical capacities for generating reliable data and statistics. Regional Conference on Homicide Data Quality
Between September 7th and 9th, 2015, the Department of Public Security of the OAS participated in the “Regional Conference on Homicide Data Quality”. The initiative was launched by the Ministry of Justice and Law of the Republic of Colombia, the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia, and Open Society Foundations, with the technical support of the Chamber of Commerce of BogotÃ¡ and the Laboratory for the Analysis of Violence of the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (LAV-UERJ).
