CICAD’s Group of Experts on Maritime Narcotrafficking constitutes a forum for OAS member states to exchange information and best practices to counter maritime and riverine drug trafficking.
The Group provides a hemispheric perspective on maritime and riverine drug trafficking trends, multilateral interdiction operations, and procedural challenges that arise during the investigation and prosecution of cases.
The Group is an important source for the publication of manuals, guidelines, protocols and best practices, with an emphasis on information exchange and regional cooperation.
Objectives
  • Provide a forum for the exchange of best practices on the control of maritime and riverine drug trafficking in OAS member states;
  • Support OAS member states to increase their maritime and riverine interdiction capacities; and
  • Foster interagency, regional, and international cooperation.
Activities
  • Annual meetings of CICAD’s Group of Experts on Maritime Narcotrafficking; and
  • Publication of reference materials on maritime and riverine drug trafficking control in the region.
