“Indigenous Perspectives” Photography Competition
Photographers of all ages and levels (professional,
student, or amateur), are invited to participate in
the “Indigenous Perspectives” Photography
Competition, to tell stories about the indigenous
peoples of the Americas, through pictures.
Photographs must be received by the deadline of June
9, 2013. Photographs should be emailed to
[email protected]. A PDF document with the complete

1. REGISTRATION. Registration for the
competition is free and participation is open to all
interested parties (professional photographers,
students, amateurs).
2. TOPIC. Photographs must contain some
element characteristic of the indigenous peoples of
the Americas (objects, people, places, arts and
crafts, cuisine, work, social situation, etc.). In
essence, the competition seeks to focus the
photographer's eyes on the indigenous world as a key
player in the social process.
3. Deadline.
Only digital photos will be accepted – that is,
images shot with a digital camera or digitalized
from scanned negatives or hard copies. Contestants
must submit their photos, captioned “Indigenous
Views,” by e-mail to
[email protected] by June 9, 2013,
the deadline to received photos.
4. TITLE AND DESCRITION. The photographer must
identify his or her work with a TITLE. "Untitled"
photos will not be accepted, as they are unsuitable
for archiving and cataloging purposes. Each photo
must be accompanied by a description or written text
no more than one paragraph of 100 words, conveying
concise information about the photo's subject and
its context (e.g., country, province or region, city
or village, name of the community or person,
features of the work, etc).
5. RESOLUTION. Each digital image submitted
must be of a excellent resolution, with at least 300
DPI, which is suitable for viewing on a monitor
screen.
6. Files received will be taken as individual
photographs. Each contestant may enter up to three
(3) photos.
