Special Monitoring Mechanism for Venezuela

The Special Follow-up Mechanism for Venezuela (MESEVE) was installed on October 21, 2019, to strengthen monitoring activities and respond promptly to the new challenges posed by the serious human rights crisis in the country.

The MESEVE seeks to approach the victims of human rights violations and work in an articulated manner with civil society organizations and different mechanisms of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN) to document the systematic violations of human rights in that country.

Likewise, the MESEVE supports the different mechanisms of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to evaluate requests for precautionary measures and follow up on those granted; study the prioritization of requests received; support the litigation of cases before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (I / A Court HR); monitor the situation of migrants from Venezuela in the countries of the region; follow up on the recommendations made to the State by the IACHR, and support the strengthening of civil society.
