The Inter-American Observatory on Public Governance and Innovation (OIGIP) is a joint research initiative among the OAS School of Governance (SoG), the Instituto Universitario Ortega-Maranõn (IUIOG), and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos III (URJC)

The initiative is inspired by similar mechanisms carried out in the US, Europe and Latin-America, such as the OECD Observatory for Public Sector Innovation, the Center for Public Impact at Boston Consulting Group Foundation - CPI and the Inter-American Network of Education in Public Administration - INPAE

OIGIP contents can be accessed using any of the following mirror sites:

Objectives
  • Promote the systematic analysis and dissemination of concrete experiences on governance and policy innovations across the Americas as an essential element for effective government and democracy sustainability.
  • Promote the use of innovative and interactive methodologies and pedagogical tools (i.e., case studies, simulations, role plays, flipped classroom) by academic institutions, as an essential element to train a new generation of public leaders in the region.
  • Facilitate and support joint initiatives among academic institutions dedicated to public management across the Americas as an essential element for horizontal cooperation and internationalization towards Europe, Asia and Africa.

Activities
  • OIGIP Case Library ("Casoteca"): a digital repository of case-studies on policy innovation referred to Latin American reality and offered in Spanish.
  • OIGIP Network of Schools of Government:  a transatlantic network of universities and academic institutions in the US, Canada, Latin America and Europe.
  • OIGIP Network of Experts: a regional network of international scholars and policymakers with expertise in public governance, policy and management domains.
  • OIGIP Simulations: implementation of role-plays, case-studies and simulations (PON Harvard, SPA Oxford, PM GW, OI Berkeley and ISD Georgetown) for leadership training.
  • OIGIP Double-Certification Programs: training and leadership programs offered by the OAS School of Government and OIGIP Network strategic partners in alliance.
  • OIGIP Global Weeks: international modules, residential weeks and technical missions in the US, Latin America, Europe and Asia for emerging public leaders.
  • Americas Fellowship Initiative (AFI): exchange opportunities for scholars, researchers and graduate students affiliated to OIGIP Network - including short-stays at OAS/SG Headquarters in Washington-DC.
