Resources Available through the OEA-ECHO Program for Flood Vulnerability Reduction and the Development of Local Warning Systems in Central America

As part of the activities in the initial phases of the OEA-ECHO Program, technical documents and audiovisual materials have been produced for the training of professionals and local rescue teams. These documents, available only in Spanish are organized in the following volumes:

Manual for the Prediction of Floods in the Leán River Basin
Strategies for Flood Vulnerability Reduction in the Leán River Basin
OEA-ECHO Operation Guide of the Flood Alert System of the Leán River Basin
General Module of the OAS-ECHO Program for Flood Vulnerability Reduction and the Development of Local Warning System in Central America
Module I: Analysis of Vulnerability and Identification of Mitigation Measures
Module II: Hydrological Analysis, Design of Warning and Hydrological Measurement Systems
Module III: Community Preparedness
Annotated Guide for the Preparation of Technical Documents with References to Program Activities

The contents of these documents cover the five thematic areas developed in the Program, which together, form the basic outline of a flood vulnerability reduction project for minor river basins.

The Program has also developed a video and flier, with the purpose of informing, teaching and disseminating information. Furthermore, Central American professionals trained during the initial phases of the Program, are valuable mechanisms for the dissemination of this initiative, and for the training of new technical teams through exchanges and cooperation throughout Central America.
