40th Edition of OAS Course on International Law Ends on Successful Note
The 40th edition of the Course on International Law,
organized annually by the Department of
International Law of the Organization of American
States (OAS) Secretariat for Legal Affairs in
conjunction with the Inter-American Juridical
Committee (CJI), concluded on August 23 in the
Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, where the CJI is
headquartered.

Secretary for Legal Affairs;
Dr. Arturo Valenzuela,
Georgetown University
professor; and Dr. Mariano
Aznar, Jaume I University
professor.
The course ran from August 5 through 23. During the three weeks, a total of 32 students, from various countries of the region, participated in the fortieth edition of this now traditional event to promote and disseminate information about international law.
The classes were led by prominent internationalists and international relations specialists, among them judges from international courts, international law professors from the Americas and Europe, and experts from various international organizations.
The Course on International Law is organized in response to a mandate contained in the
Inter-American Program for the Development of International Law, adopted by the OAS General Assembly. Its purpose is to promote and disseminate information about the legal aspects of the inter-American agenda and international law in general.
