Completion of the 1st virtual refresher
course on Inter-American Juridical System for
the Diplomatic Academy of Costa Rica
On Friday, May 20, the
1st virtual refresher course on
Inter-American Juridical System for the
Diplomatic Academy “Manuel María de Peralta” of
Costa Rica, sponsored by the Diplomatic Academy
of that country, was completed and
lasted five weeks (April 22 - May 20,2022).
Part of the Inter-American Program for the
Development of International Law adopted by the
OAS General Assembly in 1996 and updated in
2011, these activities also fulfill an OAS
mandate to promote training and knowledge
exchange with the region’s foreign affairs
ministries.
The OAS courses examine the structure and
evolution of the OAS as well as developments in
terms of the promotion of democracy and the
codification and progressive development of
inter-American law. The latest works of the
Inter-American Juridical Committee are also
featured.
The closing session of the Course was attended
by Ambassador Carmen Claramunt Garro, Director
a.í. of the Diplomatic Academy “Manuel María de
Peralta” of Costa Rica, Ambassador Alejandra
Solano, Permanent Representative of Costa Rica
to the Organization of American States, and Dr.
Luis Toro Utillano, Senior Legal Officer of the
Department of International Law of the OAS.
