New Publication: Model Inter-American Law on Secured Transactions: Its Implementation

The Department of International Law is pleased to announce publication of the book, Ley Modelo Interamericana sobre Garantías Mobiliarias: Su Implementación [Model Inter-American Law on Secured Transactions: Its Implementation]. Comprising over 400 pages, Parts I and II are a series of technical articles by various experts that explain several aspects of the Model Law and accompanying Regulations; Part III includes descriptions of the developments of secured transactions reforms in the region and Part IV contains various contributions that take a broader perspective, such as the impact of secured financing reforms on financial inclusion, origins of the Model Law and a comparison with its UNCITRAL counterpart. Most contributions are in Spanish, with a few articles in English. This work has been undertaken in furtherance of the mandate “to continue promoting the Model Law on Secured Transactions among member states” (AG/RES. 2909, 2017). Because closure of our office due to the pandemic has prevented distribution of hard copies, publisher Marcial Pons has provided an electronic version, which is now available at the following link. Hard copies will be distributed at a later date.
