T. Emilie. van Deventer
Dr. Emilie van Deventer-Perkins is an electrical engineer
with a career interest in electromagnetic fields. She received her PhD from the
University of Michigan, USA in 1992. Since 2000, Dr van Deventer has served as
scientist at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland in the
Radiation and Environmental Health (RAD) unit within the department of
Public Health and Environment (PHE) of WHO. Her activities focus on the
development of scientific documents, policy frameworks and information brochures
relating to public health protection from non-ionizing radiation. She
participates in various scientific and public meetings to discuss the position
of the WHO International EMF Project on health effects from electromagnetic
fields.
Dr van Deventer is an adjunct Professor of Electrical
Engineering at the University of Toronto in Canada where she taught from 1992 to
2000. Her academic research has been focused on high frequency electromagnetic
fields for telecommunications applications.
