Multidimensional Poverty Indexes
Historically, poverty levels have been defined by income-based measures and indexes throughout the world. Recently, some countries in the region have sought to innovate through measurements of poverty that go beyond income, as to analyze other types of deprivations and to design more comprehensive public policies and programs to combat poverty. The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), as this type of measurement is known, is a practice of regional interest that was the center of the workshop coordinated by the OAS-SEDI Inter-American Social Protection Network (IASPN), September 17 to 19 in Colombia.

Governments, Businesses and Labor Tackle Informality
Too many workers in the Americas lack stability, social protection and security at work. Informality ranges from 40% to 70% in some countries, obstructing social mobility and competitiveness, and exacerbating inequality. This, one of the major challenges facing the region, was the focus of the recent workshop organized by the Inter-American Network for Labor Administration (RIAL), which gathered labor authorities, along with representatives of workers and employers and international organizations on September 17 to 19 in Barbados.
