As was informed in previous
opportunities, in view of the kind invitation of the Government
of Costa Rica, the Fourth Regular Meeting of the CITEL Assembly,
will be held February 20-23, 2006, in San
José, Costa Rica. You can download the draft
agenda and
calendar at this time.
Please note that Special Sessions of the meeting of
the Assembly will be held on February 20, with participation by public
and private sector representatives, to discuss telecommunication-related
matters of common interest and to generate a series of recommendations
to guide CITEL’s future efforts, thereby contributing to the
advancement of telecommunications in the region.
Please note that, at the time of the meeting,
delegations must present the corresponding credentials from their
governments. It would be advisable for Administrations to include in
their delegations to the Assembly the highest telecommunication
authorities of their respective countries that they deem advisable and,
particularly, representatives of the Associate Members of the
Permanent Consultative Committees.
Persons or entities wishing to participate as
guests in the meeting of the CITEL Assembly or the special sessions
must forward a written request so stating to the Chair of the
Permanent Executive Committee (COM/CITEL), by January 6, 2006, i.e.,
45 days prior to the scheduled opening date of the meeting of the
CITEL Assembly. The Chair of COM/CITEL will consult the members of COM/CITEL
and, with their approval, the corresponding invitations will be issued,
provided there is no objection on the part of the government of the
host country.
At said Regular Meeting, the CITEL Assembly will
elect the members of COM/CITEL and two vice chairs of the Meeting,
decide the number of Permanent Consultative Committees (PCCs) and
their mandates, and elect the respective host countries, taking into
account, to the extent possible, equitable geographic representation.
