Activities undertaken

Training workshop “Increasing the participation and influence of people of African descent in the Organization of American States and the Summits of the Americas Process,” United States, 2009

This training workshop, organized by Global Rights and the OAS General Secretariat, was held at the headquarters of the Organization in September. The Department of International Law provided funding to enable three representatives of Afro-descendant organizations to attend the event. The DIL also gave a talk on the status of the “Draft Inter-American Convention against Racism and All Forms of Discrimination and Intolerance,” and the Secretary for Legal Affairs gave a separate talk on general aspects of the OAS and the inter-American system.
