The Department of International Law (DIL) is
organizing the XXXVII Course of International Law,
which will be offered August 2-20, 2010, in Rio de

The theme of the course this year will be
“International Law and Contemporary Global
Transformations.”
The course affords an opportunity to promote the
exchange of ideas and generate an open dialogue on
topics of special relevance in the area of
international law, and to promote studies, research,
and specialization in these areas. Several
distinguished professors from the Americas and
Europe will teach the classes over the three-week
period.
Each year the OAS offers a specific number of
scholarships for young professionals from all member
states of the Organization who have degrees in law
or international relations.
This year the DIL will offer four additional
scholarships for youth of African descent in the
framework of the Project for the Incorporation of
the Afro-descendent Theme in the Policies and
Programs of the OAS.
The classes offered in the course are published in
annual volumes and thus constitute one of the most
distinguished series at the hemispheric level on
this subject.
