Diplomatic Field Trip to the OAS Office in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone

On September 20, 2014 approximately 60 resident and non resident Ambassadors accredited to the Government of Belize visited the OAS Office in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone as part of the program prepared by the Government of Belize to celebrate its 33rd Independence Anniversary. The visit included remarks by His Excellency Alexis Rosado, CEO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belize; Ambassador Raul Lago, Special Representative of the Secretary General for Belize-Guatemala Affairs; and Mr. Juan Fernando Valey, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Guatemala in Belize. Magdalena Talamas, Chief of the OAS Peace Fund made a presentation on the Role of the OAS in Mediating the Belize-Guatemala Territorial Dispute and answered questions from the visitors on the current situation of the process. Following the presentation, the students of the culture of peace program advanced by the OAS/AZ showcased their work by delivering an artistic and musical performance.
